AI investment platform Itoflow has secured $2.5 million in pre-seed funding to expand its technology for investment research and portfolio management, with Balderton Capital leading the round.
AI investment platform Itoflow has raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding as it looks to transform how professional investment teams conduct research, assess opportunities and manage portfolios. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with participation from angel investors including Barney Hussey-Yeo, founder of Cleo.
Founded in 2026, Itoflow is building an AI-native platform designed to help investment firms turn their existing strategies and processes into governed, automated workflows. Instead of forcing firms to adopt a standardised investment methodology, the platform is built around each team’s own investment approach, risk parameters and review processes.
AI Agents Built for Investment Teams
Itoflow uses AI agents to support investment teams across different stages of the investment process. These agents can conduct quantitative research and backtesting, monitor portfolios continuously, identify material changes and surface supporting evidence for investment teams to review.
The platform supports a range of asset classes, including equities, bonds, exchange-traded funds, commodities and digital assets. Its underlying agentic infrastructure has been developed specifically for extended periods of operation, with an emphasis on security, reliability and controlled decision-making as market conditions evolve.
During current pilots, investment teams can define their investment philosophy, risk constraints and review criteria using plain language. Itoflow’s AI agents then use those instructions to carry out research, test investment opportunities and monitor portfolios according to the firm’s established framework.
Keeping Humans in Control
A key part of Itoflow’s platform is the ability for investment firms to determine how much autonomy their AI agents receive. Customers can establish which actions the agents can perform independently and which decisions or thresholds require human approval.
For institutional customers with strict data and security requirements, Itoflow can also be deployed within their own infrastructure. This allows firms to keep proprietary investment strategies and sensitive data within their existing environments while using AI-powered workflows.
The company believes this approach could help investment teams increase the number of opportunities they can research and portfolios they can monitor without having to expand their quantitative research teams at the same pace.
Building Self-Improving Investment Agents
Itoflow’s longer-term ambition extends beyond automating existing investment workflows. The company is researching AI agents that can learn from their performance over longer periods and help investment teams identify changing market signals.
“Our long-term research goal is to build self-improving investment agents,” said Aditya Jha, co-founder and CEO of Itoflow.
According to Jha, the goal is for agents supporting an investment mandate over months or years to identify approaches that continue to perform, discover potentially useful signals and recognise when an existing investment edge has weakened.
Global Pilots and Expansion Plans
Itoflow is currently running pilot programmes with hedge funds and family offices globally. The company is also in discussions with exchanges, brokerages and financial data providers as it works to expand the platform’s reach across the investment ecosystem.
The newly raised $2.5 million will be used to expand Itoflow’s engineering and quantitative research teams, accelerate product development and support the company’s commercial and regulatory initiatives.
With the funding, Itoflow is positioning its AI agents as infrastructure for investment teams looking to automate repetitive research and monitoring tasks while retaining control over the decisions that matter most.
