Swedish fintech Trustly has secured more than $40 million in equity investment commitments from two key shareholders, Nordic Capital and Alfvén & Didrikson, as it works to strengthen its growth strategy.
The funding is expected to close in November 2026 and will support Trustly’s development of new products using artificial intelligence. The investment comes shortly after the company announced plans to cut around 200 jobs, representing roughly a quarter of its workforce, following a decline of more than $50 million in revenue last year.
Trustly is backed by BlackRock and has raised more than $400 million to date. The company uses open banking technology to enable customers to make payments directly from their bank accounts without using cards or payment apps. Its existing shareholders will also have the opportunity to participate in the latest capital raise.
